2016 Seven Acre Shiraz
The vineyard is made up of eighteen 500m-long rows planted in 1993 on hard red-brown clay mingled with bluestone slate, with the bottom section dipping into sandy alluvial loam. This wine, is all macerated plum, blueberry and summer fruits, has a ferrous edge to its form along with layers of baking spice, blueberry pie, licorice and fruitcake. There is a perfume in the mouth too, a velvety slide of jasmine and violets, before it slides away with fine tannins and concentrated blue and black fruits. Cellaring suggestion: This wine has the potential to cellar for decades.
