1860 Model Light Cavalry Saber – Emerson & Silver
1860 Model Light Cavalry Saber – Emerson & Silver A classic Civil War period Model 1860 Light Cavalry Saber by Emerson & Silver of Trenton, New Jersey. The blade remains largely bright with scattered, fine peppering. The left ricasso is stamped “EMERSON & SILVER / TRENTON N.J.”, with some natural fading toward the terminal letters. The right ricasso bears a “U.S. / I.M.” inspector’s mark. The brass hilt retains an attractive mellow yellow tone with light, even patina spotting. The pommel cap is stamped with the initials “J.M.”. The grip’s leather covering and twisted wire wrap are exceptionally well preserved. Notably, the outer branch of the guard has been period-bent slightly inward, likely for improved hand protection and comfort. The leather blade washer remains intact and is of thick, solid construction. The steel scabbard exhibits a deep, dark brown patina consistent with age and service. A solid, honest example of a wartime cavalry saber with desirable maker markings and strong eye appeal. Inventory Number: SWO 355 Add to WishlistAlready In Wishlist Add to Wishlist
