Bone Heru 2 Prong Comb; MANAIA

Heru (hair comb) carved from real beef bone. 15cm long 2 prong comb. Manaia is a spiritual guardian and messenger in Maori mythology, symbolizing the balance between the physical world and the spiritual realm. Acts as a protector, guiding the wearer through life and warding off negative energies. 2 prong heru is also available in Hei Matau (fish hook) designs. Large 4 prong comb are also available in Manaia,Tiki, Koru, Whale tail, Pikorua twist and Pikorua triple twist. Heru are used to hold and decorate hair in a bun (top knot). Traditionally the head was considered the most sacred part of the body. Because hair was believed to retain a person's spiritual essence the Heru served as a way to honour and protect that spiritual connection. Available with or without woven kete (bag).
