I liked the contrast between the formal black tie and the loose, awkward pose. The figure seems both confident and uncertain at the same time, as if she is trying out different versions of herself to see which one fits. I wanted the rough paint, drips, and interruptions to remain visible. They carry the energy of the painting as much as the figure itself. Painted on stretched canvas.
