Sarracenia alata var. atrorubra is a highly prized carnivorous pitcher plant native to eastern Mississippi and Alabama. Distinguished by its intense scarlet to deep maroon-red colouration - occasionally approaching black - this variety displays dramatic pigmentation across the entire pitcher and lid, with dark veining often visible on interior surfaces. It performs optimally in full sun conditions, making it an exceptional choice for collectors seeking bold, visually striking specimens. Skill Level: Easy. Froom: Deer Park, Alabama, USA. Light: Min 3 hours direct sun, max all day. Water: Fill tray, keep in water at all times. Dormancy: New leaves stop forming during the colder months and old leaves will slowly die off. Pot Size 15cm (2L). Please note some Sarracenia are very large in size and leaves will have to be bent or cut down to fit in smaller boxes. Leaves grow quickly so you don't need to worry about losing some. Larger orders mean larger boxes. If you need your plant to arrive at full height please message me after ordering to discuss shipping options. Bare root option is available to save on shipping, as the pots are 2kg each. Please message me if you wish to go this route, but take note you need special soil types to replant on arrival as they live in moss or peat, not potting soil. Growing instructions can be found here: The last pictures are of the parent plants to show you what they can grow into. *Please note: All plants are unique, photos are used as examples only. You will receive one of the same type and similar condition and size to the one shown here.
