The Perfect Typewriter for your Office – Working 1957 Alpina SK24 Typewriter – Made in Germany
London Typewriters is pleased to introduce the Alpina SK24 typewriter — the ideal tool for both professional and personal use. Produced for just one decade, from 1951 to 1961, this reliable Alpina SK24 was released in 1957 by a German typewriter manufacturer based in southern Bavaria. During development, it evolved into a superior model with a light, crisp keystroke and a host of mechanical features: a tab set (for typing in columns) and a tab clear, ribbon color selector, adjustable line spacing, touch control, and front margins. The Alpina SK24 typewriter is a relatively rare model for the British market. However, this particular model was designed for use in the UK, US, and other countries where the dollar was the currency. Accordingly, the Alpina SK24 has both pound sterling and dollar symbols. Ironically, German engineers anticipated the future need for the @ symbol, and so this model comes with it. Another curious fact about typewriters produced specifically for the British market: the absence of an exclamation mark. However, our Alpina SK24 does have one, making typing more expressive. The typewriter is ready for immediate use, as it comes with a new black ribbon. It comes with a durable brown case, ensuring protection should the typist decide to travel for writing practice. Please note that this green typewriter with rounded edges is heavier compared to other portable typewriters. The overall condition is good. There are minor signs of age and use — please see the photos. The Alpina SK24 typewriter is an excellent and reliable long-term investment for any vintage typewriter enthusiast.
