This artwork is part of a series called 'Theatre of the Sacred'. Mythology has remained central to Paresh Hazra’s artistic practice. Inspired by stories heard during childhood, he approaches mythological narratives not as distant religious tales, but as living repositories of philosophy, morality, emotion, and collective memory. Influenced by folk storytelling, theatre, and the cultural atmosphere of Bengal, the compositions carry a strong sense of performance, symbolism, and narrative intensity. The works in this series are created using the traditional medium of egg tempera — an exacting and time-intensive process using natural earth pigments mixed by hand. Through this medium, Paresh creates a bridge between traditional artistic practices and a contemporary visual language shaped equally by indigenous storytelling and his study of European art. This artwork measures 48 x 40 inches and the framed size is 62 x 53 inches.
