Venus of Fair Voyage A Tides of Tethys, handcrafted sterling silver ring set with a 7mm white freshwater pearl, and finished with a antique patina. Size 9. Named after one of Aphrodite's epithets, Euploia, which means Aphrodite of Fair Voyage, this limited-edition ring is set with a luminous pearl held within sweeping silver forms that rise around it like waves. I first hand sculpted the ring in jeweller’s wax, shaping the fluid wave-like forms so that the pearl appears to be carried up in the crest of a wave. It also reminds me of a lighthouse and the pearl being a beacon of light to guide a weary sailor home. Pearls are among Venus’s most ancient and sacred gemstones. In lapidary lore they are considered inherently talismanic, born from the union of sea and heaven, and because they are held to be of the nature of Venus, they are understood to receive her virtue in the very act of their generation.
