Phil Wood track crankset - limited edition GOLD
Phil Wood crank arms and chainrings are machined from solid, US-produced 7075 billet aluminum put through special processes to maximize hardness and minimize internal material stresses, producing a crankset with maximum achievable rigidity. Each crankset is made from start-to-finish at Phil Wood's facility in San Jose, CA to the same extremely high quality standards Phil Wood and Co. applies to all of their products. Available with a beautiful anodized gold finish and quantity is VERY limited. ⓘ Due to the specialty nature of this item, Phil Wood cranksets are not returnable. Specifications • crank arm length: 165mm • chainring: 48t (144mm bcd x 1/8") • recommended bottom bracket: Phil Wood 103mm-108mm JIS square-taper (sold separately) • includes chainring bolts, stainless steel crank arm bolts & alloy dust caps • color: gold • crankset weight: 660g (arms, 48t chainring, bolts & dust caps) Bottom bracket compatibility info Based on our first hand experience installing and using this crankset over the span of many years, we've determined that a 103mm Phil Wood bottom bracket installed centered in the BB shell produces a perfect 42mm chainline. We've seen other sources recommend a Phil Wood 108mm JIS bottom bracket and of course, this will work if a little more chainstay clearance is needed but will result in a chainline closer to 45mm when centered in the BB shell, which a lot of people freak out about (even though it's not a big deal). The cups on a Phil Wood bottom bracket can be adjusted from side to side by about 5mm, so it's possible to push the entire crank over to the left to dial in chainline a little bit when using a 108mm spindle but by doing so, the crank is no longer visually symmetrical to the frame, and that's also something nerds will complain about. YMMV.
