Key Features •It is cast from solid brass or bronze. The vibrant green crusting across the surface is verdigris patina, a natural protective layer created over decades of exposure to saltwater and sea air. •Concentric Groove Design: The distinct ring patterns on the surface provide essential slip resistance for sailors walking across wet decks. •T-Handle Key: The separate metal T-bar zip-tied to the center acts as a removable key. Inserting and turning it into the central slot locks or unscrews the main inner plate from its outer mounting rim. •Mounting Holes: The perimeter features heavy countersunk holes used to bolt the entire frame securely down into the vessel structure. The maker is Rostand (see pic) adding significant historical context. The Rostand Manufacturing Company (originally founded around 1890 in Milford, Connecticut) was a highly prominent, top-tier American foundry renowned for producing premium marine brass and bronze hardware.
