Vintage Mens 1950s Bespoke Harris Tweed Sports Jacket Green Brown Cream Houndstooth Shepherd Check 40"

A vintage 1950s Harris Tweed sports jacket, bespoke made in a hard to find extra long fitting from 100% pure wool in a bold shepherd check weave in rusty brown, green & creamy natural - on my screen the close ups are most accurate. Single breasted 3-button fastening with broad notch lapels - centre vent - quite heavily padded shoulders - welted breast & angled lower flapped pockets - working cuffs - leather 'football' buttons - fully lined in taupe rayon with ivory sleeve linings - 1 inside chest pocket. The Harris label bears the 'Applied in accordance' text which I believe came into use in about 1954; no maker's label present. Please study the photographs carefully - they form an important part of the description. Accessories not included - shown with an 'Old Fashioned Garments' roll neck which is also available on the website. Size: Suggested 40 Extra Long - photographed on a 38" mannequin. All measurements are external, taken with the garment laid flat, to be doubled where appropriate for circumference (with approx. metric equivalent): Jacket Chest - armpit to armpit: 22" (56cm) Shoulder to shoulder: 18 1/2" (47cm) Shoulder to cuff: 27" (68.5cm) Armpit to cuff: 20 1/2" (52cm) Waist: 20 1/2" (52cm) Back length - bottom of collar to hem: 32 1/2" (82.5cm) Condition: In good to very good condition overall, with signs of use & some flaws: Externally there is an area of faint yellowing on the back, below the neck (circled) - some yellowing to the collar fold & cuff edges - the cuff buttons are odd. Internally the lining has stains at the neck back & hem - discolouration & sweat marks at the armpits, with a tear at the right one - discolouration & marks to the sleeve liners, with large tears & fraying to both cuffs (not visible when worn). Has been thoroughly steamed & brushed but a febreze type smell & some fustiness at the armpits remains.
