Vincent Ricard, 'Le Vilain P'tit' Rouge 2023
Variety: Cot (Malbec), Cabernet Franc Vincent Ricard is very much an up and coming producer coming from the Loire Valley. He makes Sauvignon Blanc that will rival any Sancerre, and certainly any ‘Sauvy B’ for under $30. In fact, the property is just west of Sancerre in the Touraine region. While his wines have been gracing the wine lists of Michelin star restaurants for many years, these wines fly far under the radar for the quality of farming behind the fruit. A 90/10 blend of Cot and Cabernet Franc, this blend is vinified in oak, 1/3 of which is new. These 30 year old vines come from fields totalling about 35 hectares.
