At Martin Model's workshop in Scappoose, Oregon — just 20 miles northwest of Portland — our Custom Projects class gives advanced woodworkers the freedom to design and create a project of their choosing, with expert guidance every step of the way. Whether you want to build furniture, explore wood turning, try woodcarving, dive into cabinetmaking, or create patterns for castings — this class is your workshop, your vision, your masterpiece. Open to all genders, all backgrounds, and any dedicated maker who has completed the prerequisite coursework. How It Works Choose your project from one of our many design magazines or bring your own idea. Our expert instructors provide tailored, one-on-one guidance to help you refine your plans, work through challenges, and bring your vision to life using our fully equipped workshop. You'll build on your foundational skills, deepen your confidence, and gain real experience tackling a project that reflects your personal style and ambition. Prerequisites Completion of Woodworking 101 Parts 1, 2, and 3 is required Class Details Duration: 9–10 weeks | Minimum 30 total hours of instruction Location: Scappoose, Oregon — approximately 20 miles northwest of Portland Class size: Small groups for personalized instruction Makeup policy: Missed a session?
