This calligraphy by Jiun Onkō revisits a story that is said to have happened in the year 520. Daruma meets Emperor Wu and is asked various questions about Buddhism – but his answers fail to satisfy the Emperor. Annoyed, the emperor finally asks him "Who are you?" to which the Daruma answers "I do not know".
