Fabricating Ironwork
In this 6 week course, students will learn how to fabricate ironwork. Students will use cold and heat bending techniques with steel flat bar. This course goes over MIG Welding, the Oxy-Acetylene torch, the Propane Forge, and angle grinders. Students should have a brief understanding of MIG Welding. Knowledge of the Oxy-Acetylene torch is helpful but not necessary. Your final project will be up to 3.5′ x 3.5′ Ironwork can be used to make a wall hanging, window covering, or outdoor sculpture. This class is recommended for students who have taken a Weekend Welding course, or have some welding experience. Open studio hours to work on projects during the course are included. Open studio runs Monday (3-6pm), Thursday (3-6pm) and Sunday (5-8pm). Students will have access to 4 open studio sessions during their course. COURSE WITHDRAWAL & TRANSFERS All enrollments are subject to our REGISTRATION & ENROLLMENT POLICIES. SCHOLARSHIPS SCHOLARSHIPS applications are available for students who may not otherwise be able to enroll in a course. Additionally, standing sliding scale scholarships exist for QT/BIPOC students.
