During our buying trip to Japan in March of 2025 we had one big mission, producing the ultimate pair of chino's. In a wide size range both in waist and length sizes, so everyone can come in, get their size and walk out the door without having to do any alterations. Something Dockers pants used for their campaigns years ago and a very strong selling point instore as we feel it's one thing that leaves a smile on the face of a the client when they walk out. This idea had to meet many expectations and therefore we visited cut & sew factories, mills and last but not least we needed a genius pattern maker and coordinator in Japan to realize this. After some research we teamed up with Yoshiyuki Hayashi, well known as one of the Osaka 5 members and currently the name behind the denim brand Resolute. He is responsible for the final result in terms of patterns. The cloth is a Westpoint Twill is tightly woven from a long staple cotton, which makes it extremely sturdy without ever feeling too heavy. The yarn-dyed cloth was washed to make it already feel worn in for you. Both the fabric and colour get softer over time. Next to the wide size range we also needed the chino's to be a really well thought out design with all the right details. The right Westpoint Twill cloth, construction, machines to make it, buttons, pocketing, bar tacks & belt loops. Every design detail was part of our meetings & let's not forget the most important part, the fit. The rise, the hips, the upper legs, knees, leg opening. Every cm was discussed. Comparing old samples, turning them inside out. We had a ton of references on the table, some of them dating back over 70+ years, others more recent. A high rise. a roomy topblock makes these comfortable even for people with athletic legs. Wear it short or long, turn it up or not, create your own look with it.
