"Juneteeth-Celebrating at Sunset"
On June 19, 1865, in Galveston, Texas enslaved African Americans learned they were free. In this painting I wanted to depict warm sunset oranges, radiant blues, and layered patterns capture relief, reflection, community, and the joy of long-awaited freedom finally realized.
