Between Seasons – Fine Art Print
A quiet moment held between winter and spring. A single leaf, suspended in ice, just before everything melts. I found this scene after walking for about an hour and a half, slowly searching without really knowing what I was looking for. At some point, I noticed this leaf stuck in a small clump of ice, isolated from everything else. It immediately felt like a temporary moment — something that wouldn’t last more than a few hours. What drew me in was that feeling of transition. The ice still holding on, but not for long. I got low to separate the subject from the background and kept the composition simple. The reflection in the ice was subtle, but enough to add depth. To shape the scene the way I saw it, I underexposed the image and introduced light to control the background and isolate the leaf. Small pieces of snow were placed behind the subject to create soft highlights and bring a more dreamlike feel to the image. This photograph is less about the subject itself, and more about that fleeting moment — right between two seasons.
