Haruka Nakamura “Nujabes Pray Reflections” LP
Available May 15, 2026 Haruka Nakamura, who left behind masterpieces such as "Lamp" and "Let Go" with Nujabes, released the "Reflection Eternal" 7-inch record at the end of summer, 11 years after Nujabes' death. Following the melodies spun by Nujabes, Haruka Nakamura's piano, almost like a prayer, plays the continuation of the story. On February 26, 2020, ten years after the passing of musician Nujabes, a tribute video was projected onto all the screens at Shibuya Scramble Crossing, and his music, including "Reflection Eternal," played. The video projected was the music video for "Lamp," which he co-created with haruka nakamura. And now it's 2021. Even after so much time has passed, the number of listeners around the world who crave Nujabes' music continues to grow. In the midst of these turbulent times, Haruka Nakamura received a request from Hydeout Productions, Nujabes' label which is still going strong, to create a tribute album to mark the 10th anniversary of his death, with the request to "move forward the 10 years that have stood still." First, in the summer, he released the music video and 7-inch record for "Reflection Eternal," which received a great response. As the culmination of this project, he is finally releasing the album "Nujabes PRAY Reflections." Haruka Nakamura performs Nujabes' beautiful melodies with a new interpretation, primarily using piano and guitar. The music of the two artists merges, resulting in a work that is elevated to a new horizon. This album features a collection of Nujabes' signature songs such as Final View, Horizon, flowers, and Another Reflection, as well as a waltz version of Reflection Eternal and a piano solo inspired by the motif of Let Go—all tracks that can only be heard on this album and are sure to move listeners. Guest musicians include Gen Tanabe (orbe), who plays using Nujabes's flute and electric guitar, and maika (baobab), who provides a folklore sound with fiddle and vocals, deepening the album's worldview. The album cover was commissioned from Cheryl D. McClure, the artist who worked on Hydeout Productions' "2nd collection," and features an impressive design reminiscent of the Kamakura coastline that Nujabes loved. The album also includes a rare liner notes booklet containing production notes by nakamura himself, with commentary on every track. The photographs were taken by TKC, the photographer who also shot the music video, and the design was handled by up-and-coming designer suzuki takahisa. The book's design was completed by carefully paying homage to Nujabes' previous work style. Music travels through time. Nujabes' beautiful melodies. Following those melodies, haruka nakamura's piano, almost like a prayer, continues the story. This is not a cover album, but new music by haruka nakamura inspired by Nujabes' melodies. Reflecting mental landscapes. A prayer that transcends the present moment flows through them. We can always find his presence in the beautiful things that are always there . You are a flower, you are a river, and you are a rainbow.
