PM SESSION: Living Roots Folk & Field School: Autumn Session

A 12-Week Autumn Journey into Traditional Skills, Nature Craft, and Community 🍂 Wednesdays, 1–3pm | Ages 6 and up | Fall Season 🍂 Program begins September 2nd and ends November 18th. Welcome to Living Roots Folk & Field School, a program of Tanglewood Hollow- an immersive, hands-on experience where children reconnect with the rhythms of nature, learn timeless skills, and become confident makers. Over the course of 12 autumn weeks, children will gather to create, craft, and collaborate- building not only practical knowledge but also a strong sense of community and belonging. Rooted in seasonal rhythms, we follow the Wheel of the Year, using nature’s turning to guide our days with intention, celebration, and joy. Through cozy, grounded, and purposeful projects, children will explore traditional folk and homesteading arts- working with natural materials, learning by doing, and discovering how to make useful, beautiful things with their own hands. From shaping earth and fiber to mixing, mending, growing, and giving, our days will be filled with meaningful work that mirrors the season’s gifts. Once a month, we’ll venture off-site within the Concord area to explore the natural world together- learning from the land through seasonal walks, hands-on discovery, and quiet observation in local woods, fields, and waterways. We’ll also share seasonal celebrations, mark turning points in the year with joy and intention, and build a culture of care through community-centered projects- crafting items to gift to elders or share in our neighborhood. Guest artisans and local friends may visit, offering glimpses into real-world making and connection. This is a space where kids slow down, get their hands dirty, and discover what it means to build something lasting- with care, skill, and heart. Join us for a season of wonder, work, and warmth.
