The striking, sculptural Platycerium bifurcatum (Staghorn Fern) is a true statement plant, known for its antler-shaped fronds and lush green colour. It adds a dramatic, tropical feel to any space and is surprisingly easy to care for once established. Light: Platycerium bifurcatum prefers bright, indirect light. It will tolerate some gentle morning sun, but strong direct sunlight can scorch the fronds. A well-lit room near a window is ideal, making it perfect for bright living areas without harsh exposure. Water: Staghorn ferns like to dry out slightly between waterings. Water thoroughly, then allow excess moisture to drain away before watering again. Overwatering is the biggest risk, so it’s better to underwater than overdo it. In cooler months, watering can be reduced as growth slows.
