【Jazz Signature: Ted Lo Trio】 若要梳理香港爵士樂的當代發展，Ted Lo 是一個繞不開的名字。1976 年，他從Berklee College of Music畢業，成為該校首位華裔畢業生。1970 年代起，他便以自由爵士鋼琴家的身份在美國樂壇嶄露頭角，不僅於 1974 年參與了長號演奏家 Raul de Souza 的專輯錄製，隨後更與搖滾傳奇 Al Kooper 展開巡演，展現出其跨越風格的音樂適應力。 1979 年移居紐約後，Ted Lo 的藝術履歷進入了更具份量的篇章。他曾與 Astrud Gilberto、Ron Carter 以及 Herbie Hancock 等國際大師合作，演出足跡遍佈紐約 Blue Note、洛杉磯 Hollywood Bowl 等指標性場地，並受邀參加北海爵士音樂節、蒙特勒爵士音樂節等全球盛事。1996 年回港後，他不僅參與了陳奕迅、林子祥等主流歌手的音樂製作，對亞洲爵士音樂的推廣有著舉足輕重的貢獻。 本次演出，Ted Lo 將聯同低音提琴手 Nelson Fung 及鼓手 Anthony Fernandes 組成三重奏，曲目涵蓋了他的個人原創作品以及重新詮釋的爵士標準曲。對希望更貼近爵士即興核心的聽眾而言，這樣的組合與編制，將能近距離觀察到三位樂手之間如何進行即興對白，提供了一個直接而不造作的聆聽入口。 In tracing the contemporary development of jazz in Hong Kong, Ted Lo is an essential figure. In 1976, he became the first Chinese graduate of the Berklee College of Music. He began making his mark on the US music scene in the 1970s as a freelance jazz pianist, debuting on trombonist Raul de Souza’s album in 1974 before touring with rock legend Al Kooper—a testament to his remarkable stylistic versatility. After moving to New York in 1979, Ted entered an even more prestigious chapter of his career, collaborating with international icons such as Astrud Gilberto, Ron Carter, and Herbie Hancock. His performances have graced iconic venues from New York’s Blue Note to the Hollywood Bowl, as well as major global events like the North Sea and Montreux Jazz Festivals. Since returning to Hong Kong in 1996, he has contributed to the works of pop icons like Eason Chan and George Lam, while playing a pivotal role in the promotion and evolution of jazz across Asia. For this performance, Ted Lo leads a trio featuring bassist Nelson Fung and drummer Anthony Fernandes. The repertoire will span a selection of original compositions and rearranged jazz standards.
