Date: 1942 Artist: Unknown Size (in): 28” x 22” Size (cm): 71.1 x 55.9 Condition: A Linen backed: No This vintage original Homemaker’s War Guide poster targets women homemakers on the American homefront and was issued by the Office of War Information as OWI Poster No. 20 in 1942. This poster is nicely illustrated with pictograms and provides a comprehensive summary of household practices advocated by the United States government to help support the war effort. Included are sections titled Plan, Conserve, Salvage and Air Raid Protection. Almost all of the human pictogram figures on the poster are women and the stylized illustration at the top of the poster shows women in military uniforms surrounding a woman homemaker preparing a meal on the homefront. This vintage original poster is folded as issued and looks pretty well unused with no tape or pinholes and only slight handling wear. Overall condition is excellent. Email any questions.
