Heavy Kantha Blanket Quilt With Pink Stripes

Originally made as a light floor covering, this heavy kantha quilt style looks woven but it's actually all hand stitched all over. Originally hand-crafted in Bengal, India, made using layers of vintage sari fabric sewn together using hundreds of sturdy kantha stitches punched through the layers. This style is a very heavy weight, almost as thick as a woven kilim rug, so it works beautifully draped over a sofa, a bench or on the bed as a heavy blanket. In almost perfect condition, this style of kantha was made to be practical and durable. This design features a beautifully subtle pink stripe in slightly diferent shades on both sides, so it's completely reversible. SIZE: 190cm x 130cm (74" x 51") Suitable to throw over the end of a UK double bed (US Full) or over a sofa or chair. As a true vintage textile, it carries the charm of its past life. Expect small imperfections, patches, and worn areas where the layers of fabric peek through, these are not flaws, but part of its history and character.
