The lotus is a symbol in Buddhism that represents the journey of life. The roots of a lotus grow from mud in a body of water, but the flower blooms on top of the water, so the lotus must pass through both the mud and the water in order to bloom. The analogy applies to our lives in that we must struggle through sometimes in order to become enlightened, or to see the light as they say. My personal journey has been fraught with all types of twists and turns, and although I wouldn’t claim to be enlightened I can say that I relate to this concept and I have experienced struggle. If you come from where I’m from, or were raised in the inner city in most places that is referred to as the mud. Common slang sometimes refers to struggling for what you want and making sacrifices or taking risks to make ends meet as “Getting it out the mud”. When you achieve success, it’s referred to “Making it out the mud” and I feel successful so if you have a similar journey I made a Jersey to represent that.
