First Step is a hand-built ceramic sculpture, created using traditional coiling techniques and grogged grey stoneware clay. Its upright, dynamic form suggests a figure mid-motion, grounded, balanced, and quietly curious. With wide arched legs and a rounded top, the piece feels both sculptural and bodily, hinting at stride and stillness. The raw texture of the clay is left exposed, reflecting the slow, tactile nature of the making process. Influenced by modernist sculpture and the simplicity of Danish design, First Step explores presence through form and material.
