The Peoria Distillers were a historic minor league baseball team from Peoria that played from 1891-1917, spending most of their later years in the Three-I League. The Distillers won league championships in 1911 and 1916 and were briefly managed by Pants Rowland, who later led the Chicago White Sox to a World Series title in 1917. Hall of Fame pitcher Joe McGinnity also played for the team, famously pitching all 21 innings of a game in 1898 and continuing his baseball career into his 50s. The team’s “Distillers” nickname reflected Peoria’s strong distilling industry during that era.
