A Child of Mine Poem Print by Edgar Guest, Sympathy Gift, Memorial Wall Art

"A Child of Mine" by Edgar Guest is one of the most tender poems ever written about the gift and grief of parenthood, and this print brings its quiet comfort into a home that needs it. Framed as a gentle conversation between a grieving parent and God, the poem speaks to the ache of loving a child whose time on earth was far too short, offering words of solace rather than easy answers. What makes this poem resonate so deeply is its honesty — it doesn't pretend grief away, it simply reframes it as the cost of having loved at all. Lines like "we'll shelter him with tenderness, we'll love him while we may" capture the fierce, temporary nature of parenting a child lost too soon, whether through miscarriage, stillbirth, infant loss, or the death of a young child. The typewriter-style verse paired with a bold, hand-lettered title gives the piece a warm, understated elegance that suits a quiet corner of remembrance rather than a loud statement wall. This print is especially meaningful for parents grieving the loss of a baby or child, and for grandparents, siblings, or close friends who want to offer comfort without needing to find their own words. It suits a nursery turned memorial corner, a bedroom, a hallway, or any quiet space set aside for remembering. Available framed or unframed, it's a heartfelt sympathy gift for pregnancy loss, infant loss, or the anniversary of a child's passing. Three versions are available: Boy – He/Him, Girl – She/Her, and Gender Neutral – They/Them.
