It repels the biting insects behind most cases of insect bite hypersensitivity, including gnats, biting flies, mosquitoes, and ticks, using citronella oil, cedarwood oil, and peppermint oil in a petrolatum and beeswax base. The salve consistency is the reason to choose this over the spray or roll-on. It stays where you put it rather than running or evaporating, which makes it the right choice for the places that need protection most and hold it least: the ear edges, the face, the belly line, the dock, and the skin around a healing wound where flies gather and won't leave.
