Hand-Embroidered Cushion Cover by Lowtfiyah

A square cushion cover in a soft ivory fabric, decorated with raised embroidery in turquoise, teal, burgundy, pink, pale green and grey. The design draws on traditional Yemeni stitches, motifs and colour palettes, forming a bold interlocking geometric pattern with a richly layered finish. This hand-embroidered cushion cover was made by Lowtfiyah, a mother of three grown-up children who joined YENOF in 2020 to supplement her family’s income. Having had no access to formal education, she developed her skills through YENOF’s embroidery programme. In 2025, she also contributed to its embroidery preservation project, creating a wall piece inspired by festive dresses from the Djebel Haraz region. The piece was selected for display at the Pitt Rivers Museum in Oxford in May 2026. Handmade and richly textured, this is a one-of-a-kind piece, with only one available.
