Since the myth of El Dorado, gold in Colombia has been far more than a metal: it is offering, memory and territory. This map takes that idea and turns it into an object, transforming the country's silhouette into a luminous wall piece that converses with the light of the space it inhabits.It was born from a collaboration between Danielle Lafaurie and a community of artisans. The wood is cut precisely along the outline of the map of Colombia and then covered, sheet by sheet, in hand-applied gold leaf. This process leaves unrepeatable veils, textures and glints on the surface, giving each map a character of its own.More than a decorative object, it is a tribute to the country as a treasure: Colombian geography turned into reflection.
