Custom ULTRA MFT Frame Builder Build a properly supported foundation for your MFT top with a frame manufactured to your exact finished dimensions. Our Custom ULTRA MFT Frame is manufactured from rigid 8040 aluminium extrusion, positioned with the 80 mm section vertically to provide significantly greater resistance to bending than a typical 4040 frame. This creates a strong, stable foundation designed to help your MFT top maintain its flatness and accuracy during workshop use. Enter the finished outside length and width required. Our Frame Builder calculates the extrusion cut lengths, corner configuration and recommended mid supports automatically. Why we use 8040 extrusion An accurate MFT system depends on the structure beneath the top. Even a precisely machined top can lose accuracy if its supporting frame flexes or leaves large areas unsupported. Although 4040 extrusion can reduce the initial build cost, its 40 mm vertical depth provides substantially less resistance to vertical bending over longer spans. Our frame uses 8040 extrusion with the 80 mm dimension positioned vertically, creating a deeper and considerably stiffer supporting structure. This helps the frame resist movement caused by the weight of the MFT top, fitted equipment and normal workshop use. A high-quality MFT top deserves a frame designed to support it properly. Calculated mid supports The Frame Builder automatically recommends and adds mid supports according to the entered dimensions. Each support is: Cut to the calculated internal frame width Positioned evenly across the frame Machined for quick-connect fixings Included in the configured price The supports reduce the unsupported areas beneath the top and help minimise unwanted sagging over time. If your installation uses another suitable supporting method, you may remove a recommended mid support in the configurator. A warning will appear to make you aware that insufficient support may allow the MFT top to sag or lose flatness. Recommended MFT top This frame is designed for use with MDF MFT tops at least 18 mm thick. We do not recommend using thin MDF as the primary working top. MDF can deflect and creep over time when it is inadequately supported, particularly when subjected to permanent weight, concentrated equipment loads or changing workshop humidity. For the best results, use a properly manufactured 18 mm or thicker MFT top secured correctly to the frame. Corner Blox connection system Our Corner Blox are selected by default and provide the standard connection system for the complete frame. The Corner Blox: Measure 40 × 40 mm Include the required M12 bolts Create strong, accurately positioned corner connections Are accounted for automatically when calculating every extrusion cut length A TX50 driver or driver bit with a reach of at least 50 mm is required for assembly. Supplying your own corner connections You may order the frame without Corner Blox if you intend to use your own suitable connection system. When Corner Blox are not selected: You are responsible for supplying your own connection system The two long rails are supplied at the full finished length entered The two end rails are supplied 80 mm shorter than the finished width Any mid supports are also supplied 80 mm shorter than the finished width This produces the stated finished outside dimensions once the frame is assembled using an appropriate customer-supplied connection method. Individual rail machining Choose exactly which rails require machined slots. Slots can be added independently to: Long Side 1 Long Side 2 End 1 End 2 The slots are designed for clamps on the bottom and sliding nuts on the top, giving you control over how the completed workstation will be used. Please note: The machining of the extrusion is set at a set distance of 331mm from the right. This is set at any length of the extrusion ordered. This is due to machining constraints. Add a matching Custom MFT Top A matching Custom MFT Top can be configured directly inside the Frame Builder. Select “MFT Top required” to open the complete top configuration. The finished dimensions are synchronised automatically with the frame, helping prevent ordering errors. You can then choose: Medite MR MDF 18 mm or Fibralux MR Black 18 mm Standard MFT holes or Quad and Fence holes Delivery or collection One-piece or split construction where applicable An optional recessed cutting strip Cutting-strip position Four corner counterbore fixing holes for fitting the top to the ULTRA frame are included automatically at no additional cost. The frame and MFT top prices are combined on screen, but they remain separate configured products in your cart so that their manufacturing information is recorded correctly. Finished-size range Length: 1000–2900 mm Width: 600–1200 mm Measurements must be entered in whole millimetres Enter the finished outside dimensions required.
