Grains of Paradise (Meleguetta Pepper)

Grains of Paradise, also known as Maniguette or Melegueta Pepper, come from the dried seeds of Aframomum melegueta, a plant in the ginger family native to West Africa. These small reddish-brown seeds are prized for their warm, complex flavor and have been used for centuries in African cooking and international spice blends. Grains of Paradise have a bold, peppery taste with subtle notes of citrus, cardamom, ginger, and mild floral warmth. Compared with black pepper, the flavor is more aromatic and slightly less sharp, making the spice an excellent way to add depth without overwhelming a dish.
