The men's waxed jacket, between parka and technical jacket Neither a city parka that is too tame nor a technical jacket that is too cold: our men's waxed jacket occupies the territory of exploration jackets, where military function meets the travel wardrobe. A shell that protects, a light lining that does not drink water, trims that work in all weather. Each component was chosen for what it had already proved in the field, before serving in yours. A coated cotton that patinates The outer cloth is a coated cotton made in England. It stops the weather, resists abrasion, and its coating patinates with each wear. To revive it, a Milerain® wax spray is supplied with the jacket: an English formula that regenerates the coating when the cloth starts to drink. A parachute lining Inside, the lining is ripstop nylon, a French army parachute cloth from decommissioned stock, cut to size. Ripstop is reinforced at regular intervals by a stronger thread, which stops a tear from spreading. It brings lightness to the back, the hem and the inside pockets. An inner pocket in camouflage net organises the essentials, and the seams are felled and overlocked in the areas that work hardest. Brass, corduroy and army buttons The fastening is a solid brass YKK MY-8 zip, with a bronze ring pull. The collar is corduroy. The hood is removable, thanks to an invisible brass zip. Outside, the brass YKK buttons are stamped with our name; inside, on a reinforced camouflage facing, brown buttons from a US Army supplier. The jacket is made in Morocco, in a limited, numbered series: once sold out, it will not be restocked. Cut and sizing Structured cut, hip length, defined shoulders, with about 20 cm (8 in) of ease around the chest. From S to XL, half chest runs from 61 to 67 cm (24 to 26.4 in), front length from 81 to 84 cm (31.9 to 33.1 in) and sleeve from 60 to 63 cm (23.6 to 24.8 in). Take your usual size: the ease lets you wear it over a knit. How to wear a men's waxed jacket On its own over a T-shirt when the weather clouds over. As a middle layer over a Journeyman wool jacket in the depths of winter. With Japanese selvedge jeans and ankle boots: two materials that each patinate at their own pace. Care Machine washable at home, dry cleaning is not recommended: 30 °C (86 °F), delicate cycle, mild liquid detergent with no bleaching agent. Never use fabric softener, which clogs the weave. No tumble dryer: air dry in the shade. Do not iron the coated cloth directly. When water no longer beads, revive the coating with the spray supplied.
