Boxwood priming flask

A beautiful priming flask finely carved from boxwood and richly decorated in the Renaissance style. The surface is covered with elegant acanthus scrollwork, interspersed with finely carved mascarons and rosettes. Two figural medallions form the principal decoration: the obverse depicts a crowned figure, while the reverse shows an intertwined figure. The carving is exceptionally refined, with considerable attention given to the depth and detail of the scrolling foliage and figural ornament. The flask retains its silver-plated spout, fitted with a functional spring mechanism. The combination of intricate boxwood carving and Renaissance imagery gives the piece a particularly rich and sophisticated appearance.
