Vintage Ceramic Hand-painted Delft Farmhouse - Stolp Architecture Style

{HISTORY} Dating all the way back to the 15th century, Holland's stolp style farmhouses were designed to include living space for people, livestock, and equipment all under one roof. Featuring post and beam construction, a thatched roof, and a rectangular or square shape, the stolp style was often augmented to include additional living quarters on one end of the building. Found in mainly Northern Holland, this style of architecture was utilized all the way up to the 1960s. Many of the centuries-old stolp style houses are now part of Holland's historical heritage sites. This small ceramic replica of a traditional stolp farmhouse was hand-painted in Holland and numbered one of twelve. Whether the other eleven pieces featured different styles of Dutch architecture or similar styles of stolp farmhouses, we aren't certain, as there were no other examples of this ceramic building to refer to. Beautifully detailed, with the traditional thatched pyramid-style shaped roof and distressed stone walls, this model also features extended living quarters. With an impressive amount of windows (23!) and doors (4!) this is an interesting style of architecture that was both functional but also very balanced. A very hard-to find ceramic piece today, this house is a definite conversation starter, an eye-catching display piece, and a nod to Dutch home design for any architecture enthusiast, history lover, or collector of Delft pottery.
