Domaine du Pegau Châteauneuf-du-Pape Cuvée Reservée Rouge 2023

The Féraud family has been making wine in Châteauneuf-du-Pape for generations, going back to the late 17th century. It was in 1987 that Laurence formed the Domaine Pegau, and they have since grown to be one of the appellation's benchmark traditional producers, known for expressive, deeply savory wines which emphasize Grenache and old-school Rhône character. The Reserve cuvée is the domaine's flagship red, built around old-vine Grenache and complemented by Syrah, Mourvedre and other permitted regional varieties. The 2023 vintage produced beautifully ripe, yet fresh elegance. The nose is explosive, red cherry, raspberry, dark bramble fruit, followed by garrigue, mint and pepper. The palate shows a great depth and velvet tannins, leading to a long mineral tinged finish.
