By this point in his career, Hampton was leaning hard into the funk and R&B sounds of the early seventies, resulting in a groove-heavy set that sits comfortably alongside other jazz veterans who made similar stylistic moves during the period. The title track became something of a dancefloor favorite, built around a rolling, repetitive funk groove that showed Hampton's instinct for rhythmic momentum translated well outside of jazz contexts.
