Shell

Maryland adopted the diamondback terrapin as its mascot in 1932, and students still rub the nose of Testudo, the bronze terrapin statue in front of McKeldin Library, for luck before exams and big games. The Shell features an off-white cotton canvas crown and bill with a red rope on a 5-panel unstructured rope hat, finished with red 3D embroidered "Maryland" script across the front.
