Vintage Mens 1940s 1950s Burton Trenchcoat Grey Gabardine Double Breasted Raincoat Mac

A splendid vintage late 1940s or early 1950s raincoat or trench coat made by "Montague Burton" from wool gabardine fabric in a harder to find mid grey colour. Cut in a classic double-breasted style, it has padded shoulders, cuff tabs, slash pockets, kick vent, & matching belt with leather-covered buckle. Fully lined with shiny bronze satin fabric with quilted padding at the top to make it a useful mid-season lightweight overcoat. Size: Suggested 40"/42" Regular depending on whether a suit jacket is worn beneath. Photographed on a 38" mannequin. All measurements are external, taken with the garment laid flat, to be doubled where appropriate for circumference (with approx. metric equivalent): Chest - armpit to armpit: 24" (61cm) Shoulder to shoulder.: 19" (48cm) Shoulder to cuff: 26" (66cm) Armpit to cuff: 17 1/2" (44.5cm) Waist: 23 1/2" (59.6cm) Back length - base of collar to hem: 45 1/2" (115.5cm) Condition: In very good to excellent condition overall, gently worn but with some minor flaws - there are some small surface nibbles/thin spots on the left shoulder, the right cuff, below the right pocket & on the left leading edge towards the hem (circled & arrowed) - a few other scattered tint snags & scuffs - some watermarks & scuffs to the lining. Has been thoroughly steamed & brushed prior to listing.
