Winter feed for your bees A 12.5kg block of fondant made in the UK, sold as bee feed for honey bees. It comes as one solid slab. Fondant is the go-to winter feed. When it's too cold for your bees to take syrup, a block placed over the cluster keeps them going until spring. Why choose me? Made in the UK. Quality fondant, made here in Britain. Made for cold weather. Bees can't process syrup when it's cold. Fondant sits above the cluster and they take it as they need it. No mixing, no mess. Nothing to make up or spill. Just cut, wrap and place. Less robbing. Bees take fondant slowly, so it doesn't excite the colony like syrup can. That means less risk of robbing by other bees and wasps. Cut to size. Slice the block into chunks to suit each colony. How to use Cut the block into manageable chunks. Wrap each one in cling film or a freezer bag so it doesn't dry out. Make a cut in the wrapping and place it, cut side down, over the feed hole in your crown board. Ideally, put it right above the cluster. In very cold weather, place it straight on the top bars with an eke or upturned feeder for space. Take this off in spring, or the bees will fill the gap with brace comb. Check on your bees every 2 to 3 weeks on warmer days and top up as needed. Ingredients: sugar, glucose syrup, water. Need 3 blocks? Add 1 block and 2 blocks to your basket.
