Design - Back in 1842, English scientist Sir John Herschel discovered that paper coated with iron salts turns a deep Prussian blue when it hits sunlight. A year later, botanist Anna Atkins started laying ferns and seaweed right on that paper and letting the sun do the work, creating what many consider the first book ever illustrated with photographs. The same process later gave us architectural blueprints.
