Georgian Crowned Rose Cut Diamond Heart Ring
A Georgian era engagement ring, modeled in 18k yellow gold and silver, whose crowned heart centers on a peaked, foil-backed rose cut diamond. This many-faceted rose cut is held in a silver cut-down collet. Above it, a spray of smaller rose cut diamonds decorate the crown, and below it, a single rose cut acts as finial. Two further collet-set rose cut diamonds grace the ring's shoulders, where they serve as flower heads for the trailing, stylized foliage that decorates the ring's ornately-carved shank. All of these stones are mounted in closed back settings, and all are foiled— they have a striking moody quality and they flash brilliantly, even in candlelight. The backside of the ring head is decorated with deeply graved rays, and the little crown is carefully carved on the reverse, as well. We especially love the fine details hidden in this complex design, from the droplets that adorn the main collet, to the surprising dimensionality of the flowers at the ring's shoulders— everything has been very carefully considered, and thoughtfully made. This is all original. Materials 18k gold Silver Diamond Age c. 1760 Size US 6 This ring should not be resized.
