Black-capped shrike (Halcyon pileata)
This kingfisher likes coastlines, mangroves and tidal rivers, but it can also be found in plains, up to 1,200 m above sea level. It feeds on invertebrates. Its black head and white throat, bordered by an orange nape, contrast with its bright black and blue back and rufous belly. Its large orange-red beak completes the picture. Here, it is perched on a branch.
