Girard-Perregaux Vintage '1945'

Few watch brands can compete with Girard-Perregaux in the history department. Dating back to the late 1700's, Girard Perregaux has a story filled with innovation that includes pioneering efforts in early wristwatches and invaluable contributions to the engineering of the quartz movement. Like many other brands, GP worked hard during the 1940’s to build simple, robust watches that could be worn day-to-day, the results of which were myriad beautiful timepieces that can still be had relatively affordably. This particular GP, however, is a modern take on a midcentury aesthetic. This gorgeous Reference 2595 is housed in a 28mm x 44mm rose gold case with a signed crown, a domed sapphire crystal, and an exceptional dial. It features a blacked finished with applique numerals and subsidiary seconds. Although this model dates to the 90s, it certainly feels like a 40s or 50s classic. Powered by a manually wound movement, it preserves the classic historical appeal of these timepieces in a surprisingly modern package.
