I picked up this Jeep fordite cabochon at the Tucson Gem Show — those concentric rings of color are layers of automotive paint, built up over decades on a factory line and chiseled away when it got too thick. When I sat down to work with it, a chunky ring band felt like the right home for it. The patina brings out the depth in the cab in a way I really love. There is only one.
