Reel Knob
Rodhouse take on the PHT Knob We fell for these knobs because they break away from the all-plastic stock moulds you see on every reel out there. Stabilised wood, resin, mirror-finish varnish, all hand-made in the Cantal: it's the kind of part that turns a decent reel into one you actually want to pull out of the bag. And for that level of finish, the price tag stays fair. The PHT Knob at a glance Materials: stabilised wood and epoxy resin, varnished finish French artisanal manufacture, rod-building workshop in the Cantal 5 colours available: royal blue, azure blue, pearl white, brown, gold 2 profiles to choose from: standard or mushroom 4mm spindle compatibility: Shimano, Daiwa, Gunki, Favorite, Savage Gear, 13 Fishing 5mm spindle compatibility: Abu Garcia, Penn, Lew's Supplied with adjustment washers and a removal pin Compatible with most reels whose handle can be unscrewed An artisanal knob to tune your spinning or casting reel Stabilised wood and resin: a material that transmits The knob is the contact point between your hand and the reel. The choice of material directly affects what you feel. Stabilised wood combined with epoxy resin forms a dense assembly that transmits vibrations travelling up the line better than a stock EVA or rubber knob. The varnished finish gives a firm grip, even in the rain or with wet hands. Each piece has its own grain and reflections, meaning no two knobs are ever strictly identical. Standard or mushroom: two profiles for two uses The standard profile stays compact and suits fine, nervous fishing styles where you retrieve with two fingers and quick rotation matters more than torque. It's the format for drop shot, shaking or light soft-bait fishing, where you turn the handle in a quick motion between two animations. The mushroom profile, wider, offers a full-palm grip and better support when retrieving under load. It's the version to favour for power fishing with crankbaits, jigging, linear retrieves with big swimbaits, or any fight with a pike, a sizeable zander or a catfish. Hand-built in the Cantal by Pêcheur des Hautes Terres These knobs are produced in the Pêcheur des Hautes Terres rod-building workshop in the Cantal, France. Each piece is turned, cast and varnished by hand, with strict precision on the central bore to guarantee a play-free rotation once fitted on the spindle. The result is a signature piece that changes the look of the reel and stands out instantly from a stock knob. For anglers who customise their gear or build their own rods, it's a finishing detail that fits a careful approach to the combo.
