Gachatha PB

We’re starting off the Kenyan coffee season with a peaberry from the Gachatha factory. A classic profile with lots of Blackcurrant, juicy (and slightly umami) tamarillo and a brown sugar sweetness. SL28 and SL34; cultivars released by Scott Laboratories in the 1930s, are well know for their high cup quality. Their deep root systems also enable the trees to tap the limited water resources and thrive without irrigation. Ruiru 11 however is resistant to both coffee berry disease and leaf rust, which can be devestating to a producer’s crop. The combination of these varieties strikes a good balance between quality, production yield and disease-restistance, offering the highest possible stability in production and income.
