2022 VINTAGE ACCOLADES 93 Points | Tasting Panel 92 Points | James Suckling 90 Points | Wine Enthusiast TASTING NOTES Notes of bright red cherry and cranberry mingle with a touch of allspice upon the nose. Notes of cassis, blackberry, and violet are complemented by classic Rutherford dust notes upon the palate. The rich fruit flavors and velvety tannins lead to a beautiful length and satisfying finish. WINEMAKING NOTES Kith & Kin, Old English for “Friends & Family”, is a Cabernet Sauvignon sourced from all corners of the Napa Valley but with its heart rooted in Rutherford. This wine is approachable in its youth, with balanced tannins and a fruit-forward character. The vast majority of fruit comes from our estate, supplemented by a limited amount from Napa Valley growers. This wine is the blend of many vineyard blocks, soil types and fermentation lots. Our goal is to produce a juicy, saturated wine ready to enjoy at a young age. To ensure vibrant aromatics and a rich supple palate, we ferment hot and fast, allowing us to extract the fruity character without overly extracting tannins. VINTAGE & VITICULTURE The 2022 vintage was the third in a string of drought years. Despite the drought, there was well-timed Spring rain that boosted the vines’ vigor allowing for nicely established canopies for both shade and photosynthesis. The weather remained relatively mild and even, with routine fog patterns cooling nighttime and morning temperatures. At Labor Day, a significant heat wave impacted the entire Western States. While we sustained some heat damage, we mostly came out unscathed thanks to our healthy vine canopies and overhead sprinklers. Our “California sprawl” trellis systems provide excellent vine balance and diverse sun exposures. VARIETAL: 85% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Petit Verdot, 5% Petite Sirah
