A Vintage Mazzega Petal Chandelier
A Vintage Mazzega Chandelier The chandelier of generous domed and tiered form, composed of a large quantity of individually hand-blown lattimo glass petals — each of undulating, organically irregular profile, the surface textured with fine internal crystal powder giving a frosted, luminous quality — suspended in overlapping tiers from a chrome-plated metal armature. Each petal is accented along its central rib with a pronounced stripe of warm amber glass, the tonal contrast between the white lattimo body and the amber vein animating the surface as light passes through. The whole forms an abundant, flower-like corona of considerable scale and decorative presence. Suspended from a chrome chain and ceiling canopy. The multi-petal chandelier in white lattimo with amber accent ribs is among the most characteristic and sought-after formats produced by the Murano furnaces in the 1970s and 1980s, most closely associated with the celebrated A.V. Mazzega manufactory. Large white petal chandeliers of this type, composed of chrome frames bearing individually hand-blown Murano glass petals, were produced by Mazzega in Italy during the 1980s and are noted for retaining their white luminosity when illuminated. Comparable examples with lattimo glass petals on nickel-plated or chrome frames are well-represented in the market, with related variants documented in turquoise, amber, caramel, and clear colourways. The combination of clear and amber-coloured Murano glass on a chrome element is also associated with Toni Zuccheri's work for Mazzega in the 1970s, and the amber-ribbed lattimo petal format of the present lot sits squarely within this traditio
